Work Operation: Desludging Operations in the Joubert Sluice Dock

Since August, desludging operations carried out by the Charier Company have been underway at the level of the gate and its recess, as well as in the immediate vicinity in the Penhoët dock basin. These operations are vital in order to prepare the area for the refloating of the old gate prior to its removal, and then for the arrival of the new gate, for the purposes of which a phase of dry-dock work is scheduled.

Classified as waste, the accumulated sediment will be sent to landfill after being treated and then stored alongside the quay in geotubes (on the downstream section of the Prise d’Eau quay), whilst it dries out as much as possible.

This work is governed by an official notification issued in accordance with France’s National Water Act. The work will be carried out in several stages in order to minimize disruption to operations and to ensure the project’s safe completion.
