The Vole au Vent Returns to the Estuary
The mission of the Vole au Vent is to convey and to install the 61 wind turbines destined for the EMYN Îles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier offshore wind farm. With each rotation, the vessel transports 4 complete wind turbines, namely 12 blades, 4 towers and 4 nacelles.
Since the start of May, the Vole au Vent has completed its first two rotations to the future EMYN offshore wind farm. This is the second major project to be developed out of the Saint Nazaire industrial-port platform!
A true logistics hub, this pre-assembly facility illustrates the know-how of Saint Nazaire’s logistics and port players in supporting the offshore wind power industry. This expertise is a key asset for industrial firms and a strong marker of our Regional Community.
Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port is not stopping there, and is already looking ahead to the next stages with the Éole project, working alongside industrial firms to rise to the major challenge of energy transition, and is informed by an extensive process of consultation with stakeholders. Today, the Port Authority is shaping the industrial-port infrastructure that will contribute to the deployment of tomorrow’s new offshore power generation technologies.
