A Successful Edition for the Maritime Economy Forum in 2023!

5 December 2023
MaritimeOPORTUNITY

Held on 28th and 29th November, the 18th edition of the Maritime Economy Forum focussed this year on the military, economic, energy, food, logistics, cyber-security and other aspects of sovereignty, in a complex world.

Each edition of this forum, which is the biggest event of its kind in Europe, brings together political, economic and military decision-makers involved in all the sectors of maritime activities. Numerous conferences were held during the event.

On 28th November, Michel Puyrazat, Interim Chair of the Management Board of Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire, contributed to the "Ports and the Third Industrial Revolution" panel discussion, taking as his theme "How can we deliver energy transition and carry through that revolution here, at Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire?". "We are at the heart of that transformation. There are two key criteria for achieving this: teamwork and forward thinking. To make it work, all the players need to get involved. And we are very lucky: in our Regional Community, they are all involved, be they industrial firms, institutional players or local and regional government representatives. And we have demonstrated that forward thinking in accommodating the MRE sector, the ÉOLE project, the ability to provide a floating wind turbine integration hub, and in planning a low-carbon industrial activity zone, which is a major challenge, the real groundwork towards setting ourselves a roadmap and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050."

An Oportunity Stand

Over the course of the two days, Oportunity , Greater Western France’s port promotion collective, was present on a stand with Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port’s partners, namely Nantes University, Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Development Agency, Néopolia, UN E-Sea and Windship. Many discussions took place with elected representatives and students from several institutions offering maritime specialisms.
During the second day, an event highlight on the topic "Training for the Maritime and Port-Related Specialisms of Tomorrow" drew a large number of visitors to the Oportunity partners’ stand.

See you all next year in Bordeaux, on 19th and 20th November 2024, for the next edition!
