The Seanergy Trade Show, which took place in Nantes on 19th and 20th May, is the annual gathering for the offshore renewable energy industry. Teams from Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port were in attendance.

Over the course of two days, the trade show was punctuated by fruitful exchanges with the entire marine renewable energy ecosystem: developers, industrialists, backers, public sector representatives and politicians. Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port was present at the Pays de la Loire Regional Authority pavilion, as part of a collective dynamic intended to foster networking, collaboration and the sharing of expertise. The discussions continued on the third day during technical visits at sea, comprising a presentation of the port facilities, a focus on the Éole project and a tour of the Saint Nazaire wind farm and of the SEM-REV site.

Several major themes stood out at this year’s event: port cooperation and infrastructure planning in support of Europe’s offshore wind power ambitions; the development of floating wind power through flagship projects and partnerships; innovation and international expansion; and the role of infrastructures, logistics and regional synergies in supporting the growth of this sector of activity.
As an industrial port for energy transition, over the past decade or more Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port has been consolidating its logistical service offer and adapting its infrastructures to support the sector’s expansion. Having contributed to the deployment of France’s first offshore wind farm off the coast of Saint Nazaire and, more recently, of the Îles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier offshore wind farm, the Port is building on these successful experiences to assist new projects and is proving the capacity of its infrastructures to meet the needs of the wind power sector.

As part of this dynamic, the Port is preparing to accommodate the next generations of wind turbines through the Éole project – a future base for industrial and port-based activities dedicated to fixed-foundation and floating wind turbines, due to be operational by 2032 – and is continuing discussions on key development projects, notably with Pennavel.
