Route Extension for the Neoliner Origin with a New Call in Zeebrugge

As of September, the sail-powered roll-on/roll-off vessel Neoliner Origin has added a port call in Zeebrugge to her regular transatlantic route. In so doing, Neoline is acting in partnership with the CMA CGM Group, which is supporting the shipping line in marketing the transport service.

Nantes-based shipping line and pioneer in sail-powered maritime transport Neoline has announced the expansion of its regular transatlantic service. Following a first call in Zeebrugge on 21st September, the Neoliner Origin is extending her route, which will now link Zeebrugge, Montoir de Bretagne, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, Baltimore and Halifax.

A Strategic Call

Part of the Port of Antwerp-Bruges port complex, Zeebrugge is one of Europe’s leading ports for ro-ro, motor vehicle and oversized cargo traffic: a particularly strategic port of call for the Neoliner Origin.

Shippers who import or export cargo through this Port can now access an industrial-scale sail-powered shipping solution, thereby reducing the carbon footprint of their supply chain.

10 Rotations per Year

This extension lengthens the rotation by a few days, without altering the transit-time commitments made to the pioneer shippers on the route from Montoir de Bretagne to Baltimore and Saint Pierre and Miquelon. From now on, the Neoliner Origin rotation will take 5 weeks during the summer and 6 weeks during the winter, amounting to around ten rotations per year.

The maritime link between Zeebrugge and Montoir-de-Bretagne has reached a new milestone by now offering the transport of XXL cargo. Shippers can therefore benefit from a solution that avoids the administrative constraints associated with oversized road convoys, as well as the limitations imposed by certain infrastructure structures on road networks.
