The Orient Express Corinthian Has Set Sail
The first sail-powered cruise liner built by the Chantiers de l’Atlantique Shipyard was inaugurated on 29th April, at the Joubert sluice dock in Saint Nazaire. The Orient Express Corinthian is the fruit of Chantiers de l’Atlantique’s expertise and of a project led by the Accor Group.
Whilst she was being built, this exceptional vessel was a familiar sight at Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port, visible from the Saint Nazaire dock basins and as she passed through the Joubert sluice dock. Fitted with the innovative SolidSail® system developed by Chantiers de l’Atlantique, the vessel is a product of the up-and-coming sail power sector.
The Orient Express Corinthian exemplifies the shipping industry’s shift towards more sustainable solutions, a transition that Nantes ‒Saint Nazaire Port is supporting alongside the sector’s many stakeholders.
The vessel got under way on 2nd May, heading for the French Riviera before embarking on her maiden season in the Mediterranean.
