Saint-Nazaire

On 26th June, Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port took part in the opening ceremony for the Saint Nazaire Urban Area’s new Robert Badinter Promenade and Estuary Park. For several years now, Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port has been working on the progressive regeneration of its real estate in the Petit Maroc area of Saint Nazaire. This opening ceremony marks the first stage in the process of redeveloping the outer harbour.

The seafront now extends from Place du Commando as far as the fortified lock, passing through the outer harbour. From the pumping station, pedestrians will be able to access the new Robert Badinter Promenade, which joins Quai des Marées quay and then runs along the banks of the River Loire to the Estuary Park in the Petit Maroc area of the City. These developments were carried out by the City of Saint Nazaire and Saint Nazaire Urban Area District Authority, in collaboration with Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port.

As the owner of the pumping station, Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port first renovated its chimney and opened up this section of the outer harbour to create a pedestrian walkway. The demolition of the end section of the BS Vision shed and the installation of cladding have opened up a new view across the Estuary as far as Quai des Marées, where the traffic flow has been reorganized.

For several years now, Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port has been working on the progressive regeneration of its real estate in the Petit Maroc area. This inauguration marks the first stage in the redevelopment of the outer harbour.

Until 20th September, Nantes-based brewery Les Brassés will be welcoming customers on a site close to the pumping station, at La Guinguette de l’Usine, enabling residents of Saint Nazaire and tourists alike to enjoy throughout the summer this new living space located between the City and the Port.
