The French Maritime Cluster called at Nantes ‒Saint Nazaire Port on 23rd April to celebrate its 20th anniversary. The day-long event brought together French Maritime Cluster members and Regional Community players involved in the maritime and port sectors for a series of fruitful discussions.

Some one hundred professionals attended the morning’s discussions at the Port’s headquarters in Nantes. The debates focused on the port of the future, with a particular emphasis on maritime and port-related challenges over the next ten years. The topics covered included energy sovereignty, industrial transition and decarbonization, new transport solutions (sail power, inland waterway transport, intermodality), innovation and training.

The day concluded with an immersive cruise along the Loire Estuary, going to the heart of the maritime and port ecosystem. During the visit, the participants were able to find out more about the many industrial and port facilities located along the River Loire between Nantes and Saint Nazaire, as well as the key development projects for the Port and its surrounding area, thanks to the commentary from the experts on board.

The French Maritime Cluster has a membership of over 500 stakeholders from the maritime ecosystem, ranging from industry to maritime services and activities of all kinds. Nantes was the second stop on this national tour, following Lorient and ahead of Bordeaux.
