First Call by the Neoliner Origin at Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire
After a first call on 12th October at the Montoir de Bretagne ro-ro terminal, part of Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port, the vessel’s home port, the Neoliner Origin put in at Nantes for her christening ceremony.
On 13th October, Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port had the privilege of hosting the inauguration of the first sail-powered cargo ship operated by the Nantes-based company Neoline, at the Cheviré logistics and port activity zone in Nantes. In keeping with maritime tradition, Jean-Rémy Villageois, Chair of the Management Board, had the pleasure of presenting a tampion to the Captain. A significant event for the sail power industry, this christening marks another step towards decarbonizing maritime transport operations.
Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port supported Neoline’s teams throughout the various stages involved in designing and studying the conditions for accommodating this innovative sail-powered cargo ship, going so far as to take part in promoting the vessel on a joint stand.
The arrival of the Neoliner Origin marks the opening of a new scheduled transatlantic service for the Montoir ro-ro terminal and will enable shippers in Greater Western France to transport their goods across the Atlantic, to Saint-Pierre-and-Miquelon, Baltimore or Halifax. Among the big names on board for the first shipments are Rémy Cointreau, Manitou, the Beneteau Group, La Fournée Dorée, Hennessy, Longchamp, Renault and Clarins.
