On 3rd June, Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port was delighted to welcome a delegation of 10 Canadian companies to Montoir de Bretagne on a fact-finding mission focussing on the decarbonization of maritime and logistics activities.

These business people, all of whom are driving industrial innovation aimed at decarbonizing offshore and logistics activities, were visiting several major French port facilities as part of an initiative organized by the Canadian Embassy in France.

This approach forms part of a wider process with a shared objective: to identify and ramp up opportunities for cooperation on innovations that support ecological transition.

The discussions focussed in particular on the strengths possessed by Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port and the issues facing the Port Authority, the challenges involved in decarbonizing the Loire Estuary, the collective dynamic of the Loire Estuary Decarbonization initiative, and the Regional Community’s key development projects and levers for decarbonizing the maritime sector.

The day also featured a series of B2B meetings, a tour of the port facilities and a visit to the Chantiers de l’Atlantique Shipyard. These meetings clearly demonstrate just how essential international cooperation is for accelerating innovation, pooling expertise and forging concrete partnerships in the pursuit of a more sustainable maritime sector.
