2026 International Raw Materials Forum: Geopolitics at the Heart of the Discussions

On 18th September, Château d’Apigné, at Le Rheu, in the Department of Ille-et-Vilaine in Brittany, was the venue for the annual International Raw Materials Forum, the not-to-be-missed event for those working in the animal nutrition sector.

Launched in 2011, this annual event brings together professionals from the industry to discuss the major economic, regulatory and strategic issues shaping the sector.

At the 2026 edition, discussions focused on the geopolitical issues currently affecting the raw materials markets and, more broadly, the future of animal nutrition.

A Special Edition Devoted to the Geopolitics of Raw Materials

To open the event, Ludovic Michel, Chair of Feedsim Avenir and Nutrinoë, presented an overview of current trends and developments in the sector. Nicolas Coudry-Mesny and Alexander Döring, Chair and Secretary-General respectively of the FEFAC (the European Feed Manufacturers’ Federation), then shared their analysis of the main Europewide challenges facing the sector.

The morning concluded with a presentation by Philippe Chalmin, a renowned historian and economist, who shared his insights into the geopolitical dynamics of global markets and their impact on the supply of raw materials.

A Key Moment for Exchanges between Professionals

The presentations were followed by a networking session bringing together speakers and animal nutrition professionals. This provided a unique opportunity to continue the discussions, to share market insights and to strengthen ties between stakeholders in a sector facing increasingly strategic challenges at an international level.
