Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port was in Toulon on 27th and 28th March for the HyPorts Business Convention. Attended by nearly 500 participants, this annual gathering is dedicated to the hydrogen sector in the maritime environment. The topics discussed this year included France’s H2 strategy, e-fuels, and hydrogen production at sea using offshore wind power.

Ludovic Bocquier, the Manager of the Energy Sector Business Unit, took part in the conference on the topic "Carbon Capture: What solutions are being considered and put in place? What are the volumes, priorities and challenges?". Alongside Joachim Labauge (Elengy) and Jean-Luc Reboul (Arcelor), he presented Nantes ‒ Saint Nazaire Port’s vision for the sector and the local projects under development.

Among those projects, mention can be made of GO CO2, which plans to connect the biggest emitters of CO2 in Western France to a terminal at Montoir de Bretagne from which the CO2 will be shipped to storage facilities, thereby serving to decarbonize industrial operations on a massive scale. The projected uses of CO2 in the port and industrial activity zone include the production of electrofuels (e-methanol and e-kerosene).
