Gantry Crane

Crane specifically designed to load and to unload containers.

General Cargo

Cargo comprising miscellaneous consignments, as opposed to liquid and solid bulk cargo; usually designates finished or semi-finished products, new cars, perishables, sugar, cement, fertilizers, etc. transported in containers or non-containerized, most often by liner services. To be distinguished from bulk goods.

Graving Dock

A dock where vessels are repaired.

Gross Tonnage

Total internal capacity of a vessel.

GRT (Gross Registered Tonnage)

Capacity of a vessel in terms of volume, calculated in tons (1 ton = 100 cubic feet = 2.83 m3).
