CMA CGM Extends Its FWI Service to the Wider Caribbean Region

For several decades now, the CMA CGM Group has proposed a dedicated French West Indies service. To maintain and to continue to develop the quality of service, the shipping line has decided to add additional destinations outbound from Montoir de Bretagne, after the French West Indies.

The CMA CGM Group is introducing changes to its Montoir − French West Indies rotation, by proposing henceforth a service provision that covers first Guadeloupe (Pointe-à-Pitre in 8 days) and Martinique (Fort-de-France in 9 days), then Jamaica (Kingston in 13 days), Costa Rica (Puerto Moin in 19 days) and Colombia (Cartagena in 22 days), in its reefer container ship service.

To maintain the regularity of its fixed-day weekly service at Montoir each Sunday, the fleet now includes a further two chartered vessels, one of which is the M/S Domingo. These two vessels will be joining the four newly built latest-generation reefer container ships, with a unit capacity of 3 500 TEUs and fitted with 850 reefer plug-in points (the M/S Fort de France, Fort Royal, Fort Fleur d’Epée and Fort Saint-Charles).
At the hub in Kingston, feeder connections are proposed by CMA CGM to Cuba, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Belize, Venezuela, Willemstad (Curaçao) and Barcadera (Aruba).

Lastly, on a transhipment basis via Pointe-à-Pitre, CMA CGM offers a direct service to Houston (USA) in 27 days and to Veracruz (Mexico) in 30 days.

Leaving the Latin America zone, the service is expanding the range of port calls to include Ecuador and Peru, with a single transhipment operation in Cartagena, thereby offering new opportunities via Montoir thanks to the new reefer container ship service.

Since the call by the reefer container ship M/S Fort Royal at Montoir on 1st July, shippers and forwarding agents in Greater Western France can now take advantage of these new possibilities in terms of connections and provisioning. All types of containers are accepted, including dry, reefer and specialist equipment types.
