A Delegation from the Ports of Nantes − Saint Nazaire and Bordeaux in China

Jean-Pierre ChalusFrom 19th to 22nd January, a delegation led by the Chairmen of the Management Boards of the Nantes − Saint Nazaire and Bordeaux Port Authorities paid a visit to Qingdao and Beijing.

In Qingdao, in the Province of Shandong, which is twinned with the Pays de la Loire Region, the members of the delegation took part in the first edition of the Ports and Maritime Forum organized by the two Ports, in association with the Shanghai Shipping Exchange. Taking as its theme "One Belt, One Road", the event proved a great success, with over 250 participants interested in new business opportunities between France and China, the particular focus being on the agri-foodstuffs sector.

The representatives of the Ports of Bordeaux and Nantes − Saint Nazaire also had meetings with new Chinese firms seeking to develop their activities with France, as well as with logistics professionals who are already present in these markets.

The visit to Qingdao thereby offered the French Atlantic Seaboard Ports the chance to further establish their reputation with the World’s seventh biggest port community. The mission continued in Beijing with another series of business meetings. The first France−China agri-foodstuffs trade exchanges should commence in the course of 2016.
