LD Seaplane Ships Car Carrier Wagons for PSA’s Plant in Kenitra in Morocco

On 29th May, a shipment comprising a batch of 16 GEFCO car carrying half-wagons departed from Montoir de Bretagne, bound for the Moroccan Port of Tangiers. The 682-metre-long train was received on Montoir’s port-based rail network.

Somaloir took charge of the units, which were placed on MAFIs and then loaded aboard the Spirit of Montoir, on rotation on the Milk Run Med service operated by LD Seaplane, a subsidiary of the Louis Dreyfus Armateurs Group, between Montoir, Tangiers, Tunis, Naples and Cádiz, on the basis of two calls per month.
Reconditioned in France, the car carrier wagons are able to transport between 8 and 10 vehicles. They are to be used to provide pre-carriage between the plant in Kenitra and the Port of Tangiers, which is located 200 kilometres away.

The PSA plant is due to open shortly and will be producing the new 208, together with other models in segments B and C. Around 100 000 vehicles should be produced per year, 25 000 of which will be shipped to Montoir in 2020.
12 half-wagons will be shipped to Morocco on 12th June, then a further 16 units on 26th June. The subsequent departures are scheduled for the autumn.
