The Mobile Express Completes the LD Seaplane Fleet on the Montoir − Mobile Service

Mobile ExpressSince mid-February, a new vessel operated by LD Seaplane, Louis Dreyfus Armateurs subsidiary, on behalf of Airbus has been performing the rotation between Montoir de Bretagne and Mobile (Alabama).

Formerly known as the Wedellsborg, the 180-metre-long ro-ro vessel was renamed the Mobile Express prior to her first departure to the USA, on 15th February. She had on board four Airbus A320 aircraft and aeroengines for delivery to the US military.

In January, this ro-ro vessel underwent a one-month-long overhaul in the Saint Nazaire dry docks, involving the installation of scrubbers and a new ballast water treatment system. This major operation was carried out by Clemessy Services, a division of Eiffage Energie Systèmes.

In the spring, LD Seaplane will be increasing the frequency of its rotations to two departures per month, still offering a transit time of 14 days.
