Freight Forwarders / Forwarding Agents

The term "freight forwarder" designates a professional who advises upon and who organizes, effects or brings about, a movement of goods entailing the crossing of borders, as part of international trade transactions. He has an obligation to deploy resources. The freight forwarder’s customer may be the shipper or the forwarding agent.

The forwarding agent organizes the transport operation on behalf of the shipper and is himself responsible for choosing the mode of transport. He has an obligation to produce results.

From a technical viewpoint, this involves the use of administrative, legal, fiscal, banking and insurance expertise in the transport domain, as well as the utilization of industrial resources for the warehousing, packing, storage, consolidation, all or part of the handling, pre-carriage and post-carriage of the goods.
