Located on a 350-hectare site beside the River Loire, the Donges facility is distinguished by all its tanks and distillation towers. It supplies the Total Group’s second largest refinery in France, which has an annual processing capacity of 11 million tonnes of oil. The facility’s seven oil tanker berths are used to import crude oil and to export refined petroleum products. A specific berth connected to the Donges-Melun-Metz oil pipeline handles imports of refined petroleum products.
Being in charge of vessel reception, Nantes - Saint Nazaire Port has at its disposal at Donges dedicated nautical and onshore equipment to combat pollution, including intervention units, a spill recovery barge and dinghies, and a vessel support operations centre (for the deployment of gangways, repairs to hooks and mooring lines, etc.).
