A Chinese Version for the Nantes − Saint Nazaire Port Website

English, Spanish and now Chinese. As of the start of October, the website is now available in Mandarin Chinese. Produced in collaboration with the Gulfstream Communication Agency, this development assists in strengthening Nantes − Saint Nazaire Port’s trade relations with China.

China is a key partner for Nantes − Saint Nazaire Port: it represents the number one import market in terms of container traffic. In 2015, over 18 000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) were exchanged between the Loire Estuary port and Chinese ports. This figure is up 5 % compared to the previous year.

Since 2011, there has been an ongoing commercial offensive with a view to developing trade flows with Chinese ports, which are at the heart of the import-export activities of Asian firms and logistics players, notably in the sectors of energy, industry and more particularly agri-foodstuffs. This is expressed via the permanent presence of a sales representative of Nantes − Saint Nazaire Port in Qingdao, in Shandong Province, through the trade missions organized several times a year to Asia and the reception of Chinese delegations on the Loire Estuary.

The Chinese version of the website is designed to assist this process. It offers suitable content for Chinese professionals seeking to find out more about the Port Authority’s industrial, logistical and real-estate solutions, as well as the latest news about Nantes − Saint Nazaire Port and its port community.

"Chinese demand for "Made in France" agri-foodstuffs is growing stronger and stronger," notes Maryse Gérard, Head of the Sales Department at Nantes − Saint Nazaire Port. "The purpose of these actions, which have been ongoing for several years now, is to make Nantes − Saint Nazaire known to Chinese importers and logistics service providers as the "go-to" port for their goods, since it lies at the heart of the two largest agri-food regions in France. The development of a Chinese version of our website is a step in that direction. For our sales representative based in Qingdao, it is an additional communication medium to help him in his promotion efforts aimed at potential partners. This tailor-made approach is greatly appreciated and the initial feedback is already very positive."
