New Mission to China

From 21st to 28th September, a delegation from Nantes – Saint Nazaire Port has been present alongside the regional in China.

Organized by the Pays de la Loire Regional Authority in partnership with the Pays de la Loire National Orchestra and the Nantes – Saint Nazaire Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the mission was being led by Jean-Noël Gaulthier, Vice-Chairman for International Relations, and by Alain Gralepois, Vice-Chairman for Cultural Affairs.

This mission, in which Francis Bertolotti, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Jean-Pierre Chalus, Chairman of the Management Board, and Jean-Baptiste Goüin, Director of Customer Relations of Nantes – Saint Nazaire Port, were all taking part, serves to strengthen the links that were already established on a previous visit in December 2012. It is also an opportunity to support the new business development actions undertaken by Kévin Ransbotyn, Nantes – Saint Nazaire Port’s representative in China, since he joined the Pays de la Loire Region’s office in Qingdao in June 2013.

On-Site Organization

Appointments have been arranged with the Ports of Qingdao and Shanghai. Meetings have taken place with Chinese shipping lines and shippers, as well as with bodies responsible for developing Chinese investments in France. China is Nantes – Saint Nazaire Port’s second biggest market for containers after the French West Indies. In 2012, 24 000 TEUs were exchanged between the two countries. Traffic levels have grown by 110 % in five years, thanks to the weekly feeder services offered by the three largest container shipping lines: MSC, CMA-CGM and Maersk.
